Summer 2018 is here and we’re looking forward to all the awesome produce that will become available at the market. We’re going to do two small menu changes throughout the Summer months to reflect the quickly passing vegetable seasons. The first iteration sees the Ms. Piggy yield to the new BLTC and the Brit to the new Tom-yum chicken. These new items aren’t so new for us, they’re tried and tested, but they do reflect the early Summer months very well. Look for another change-up coming in late July or early August.
Gearing up for Steps for Kids again this year, we’ll be there providing fresh chicken and veggie wraps for participants and volunteers. Hoping for some great weather this year and even better fundraising results. The bar keeps getting higher and higher in terms of pledges and goals – a good thing to be sure.
We’re working out the kinks for our Summer menu as well, which will be going into effect at the beginning of June, with some prototyping sure to happen in May. We’re getting busier with lunch deliveries as well so make sure to give us a good heads-up if you’re hoping to order for you and yours.
That’s all folks, ’til next time!
Our winter menu sees the departure of the more warm-weathered Tom-Yum and the Feta, and heralds the return of the Baroness and the Julius. Respectively, they are a black bean and roasted vegetable burger and a chicken Caesar salad sandwich. Both items are back by popular demand, and even us non-vegetarians love this veggie burger. Winter sandwich selections can be tough to keep in season, but these ones are looking great.
We’ll be open on Saturday, December 23rd and then closed for the following week. We’ll be open again Saturday, December 30th and then re-opening on Wednesday, January 3rd.
Wishing you a great end to the year and an easy ramp into the Holiday season.
On Sunday, November 26th will be the second annual Kidney Foundation Christmas Market at the Kitchener Market. We’ll be around offering food for purchase for hungry attendees. With 50 vendors, a bake sale, children’s entertainment, and door prizes, this is a fun event for the whole family – proceeds go towards the Kidney Foundation of Canada. Look for some of our cookies in the bake sale as well, we’ll be donating some to help support the cause as well.
Hope to see you there. Check out the Kidney Foundation’s website for more info.
We had a busy Thanksgiving weekend and we’d like to give our thanks to the fantastic organizers and staff who ran the Craftoberfest event on Friday and Saturday for making it that way! We’d also like to thank you, for keeping us hard at work cutting French fries and making delicious sliders well into the night. We’re very excited for next year’s event, having made it through the inaugural year at Kitchener Market and gotten a feel for it. We heard a lot of good things about our food, had a great time despite long hours, and got to try a lot of amazing beers from local producers.
Speaking of which – coming up next Thursday evening, the 19th is Taps and Apps at the Walper Hotel which has many more participating local restaurants and benefits Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Waterloo Region. We’ll be there doing some crostini versions of Tom Yum Chicken, Roast Beef and Horseradish, and Brown Butter Squash to pair with the delicious beers being offered.
